At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to: Assess and bring to their practice, the latest developments in interventional neuroradiology, diagnostic imaging of the spine, brain, head and neck, in both children and adults. Assess and bring into their practice, the latest developments in physiologic or functional imaging of the central nervous system. Integrate anatomy, physiology, and function with pathologic disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems, in both children and adults. Assess the recent advances in interventional neuroradiology, and the important leadership role neuroradiologists have in the development and performance of neurointervention in the brain, head and neck and spine. Develop a fundamental understanding of the methodology to perform magnetic resonance spectroscopy, functional magnetic resonance imaging, perfusion imaging and diffusion imaging when used to evaluate brain function. Recognize the appearance of stroke as imaged through multiple modalities including; CTA, conventional angiography, diffusion and perfusion MR, nuclear medicine, and Xenon-CT with respect to timing as well as the effect of therapy. Assess and bring to their practice, the latest information with regard to interventional MR procedures, carotid imaging techniques, and imaging patients with hearing loss. Assess perspectives related to neuropathology, neurosurgery and neuroimaging of spinal cord tumors, pseudotumors, as well as causes of low back pain and radiculopathy. Develop a better understanding of the economic processes, which neuroradiologists must deal with in the day-to-day practice of neuroradiology including issues related to coding, reimbursement, and the RUC survey process. And, most importantly, maintaining quality of care. Differentiate the clinical and imaging issues involved in the diagnosis and therapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Interpret the issues involved in diagnosis and treatment of cervical neck metastases and describe current concepts in disease processes of the cerebrovascular system. Realize the increasing role of neuroimaging in the assessment of neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease.
