Biography:

Pete received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology respectively. After postdoctoral research at IBM, NASA and the ETH-Zurich, Pete spent two years developing molecular modeling software before joining the faculty in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After a dozen years of tormenting students he took his own brand of technical humor on the road and splits his speaking engagements between technical and academic audiences and comedy clubs. Pete hosts a weekly radio show Radio Sandy Springs (www.radiosandysprings.com) in the Atlanta area that adds a little humor to the world of science and technology. He has delivered talks that incorporate everything from stand-up comedy and musical parodies to technical presentations using slides and multimedia. His topics range from generic observational humor and life as a nerd and why six sigma sucks to technical talks on infertility technology, chemistry in everyday life and science and technology for normal people. Pete has spoken to audiences as diverse as, the American Chemical Society, the Center for Process Systems Engineering, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Institute of Chemical Engineers, Carpet America Recovery Effort Conference, the Shriners, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Serono Symposium International Conference on Infertility Nursing, the Georgia Institute of Technology - Atlanta, Imperial College – London.
