SYNOPSIS: Implant site preservation and development is the concept of maintaining the volume and architecture of both the soft and hard tissues. They should be preserved and maintained in their original forms as much as possible from the time of tooth extraction to the placement of restoration. This concept has its ramification on tissue healing, patient comfort, esthetics and functionality of the final implant restoration. In this course, we highlight several techniques that will facilitate a more aesthetic, functional and predictable result in implant dentistry, starting with extraction.
