Biography:

Andy Manzini is Vice President and Principal Consultant for National Green Building, Inc., a builder and consultant in sustainable green building, environmental consulting and Continuing Education design for the Construction industry and for general management applications.
From 1986 to 1997, he was Vice President and Principal Consultant for the Utility Management Institute, an international consulting and service organization specializing in setting up IT departments, organizational change, work process improvement and training of managers in electric and gas utilities. He was also responsible for the U.S. direction of the INTERCULTURAL Center for Organizational Studies, whose focus is the transfer of management technology worldwide.
From 1974 through 1986, he held progressively responsible positions with Raytheon/Ebasco Services Incorporated, a major power engineering and construction firm in New York. He was Vice President, MIS and Administration; Vice President, Human Resources; Director, Human Resource Development; Administrator, Construction Training and Development, and Supervisor, Construction Training. Prior to this, from 1968 through 1974, he acquired manufacturing and production planning experience with Johnson & Johnson. Positions held at J&J included Training Manager, Department Manager, Special Projects Supervisor and Production Supervisor. From 1965 through 1968, Andy served in the United States Army in Germany, starting as a Second Lieutenant and ending service as Captain, in the position of Assistant Chief of Staff, Personnel, for the U. S. Army's First Support Brigade in Mannheim, West Germany.
Andy's management and training experience include: production of a 35mm film on Construction Management; design and delivery of a comprehensive Nuclear Quality Assurance Program; design and delivery of a series of Project Management programs, and the conduct of dozens of team building interventions at several fossil and nuclear plants. For several years, he was responsible for directing development and implementation of technical and management programs for power plant engineers and project managers.
His projects experience includes work performed at the St. Lucie 1 and 2 nuclear plants; the Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station Nuclear Plant, WPPS Units 3 and 5 nuclear plants, and many fossil power plants.
Andy is known for his significant and pioneering contributions to the Strategic Planning and Human Resource Information Systems, and is particularly well known for his achievements in Executive Development. He has developed programs ranging from design of comprehensive Performance Appraisal and MBO systems, to Evaluation of Managerial Potential and Career Management. He has also led the development of a pioneering executive program which involved close industry-university cooperation. The latter received the attention of the Work In America Institute. Details of the program were presented in New York and San Diego to their Training in Industry Council.
Andy has also made significant contributions in Large Systems Diagnosis, complex Team and Intergroup Development interventions, most of them in a nuclear utility and fossil-fuel plant environment, and for conceiving and developing advanced computerized Strategic Human Resources Planning and Development systems.
His work has been the subject of at least a dozen articles written by others, including Business Week, The World of Work Report, The Levinson Institute and various Human Resource publications. His own published articles include Manpower Planning and Forecasting; Human Resource Planning: Observations on the State of the Art and the State of the Practice, and Enhancing the Effectiveness of Matrix Organizations with Organization Development Interventions. He has also written three books: Integrating Human Resources and Strategic Business Planning (with John D. Gridley,) a major work published in 1986 by AMACOM, now in its second printing; SISTRAT, published in Brazil in 1988, and Organizational Diagnosis: A Practical Approach to Company Problem-Solving and Growth, published in 1988 again by AMACOM.
Andy has made dozens of presentations to various professionals societies, and has taught at Harvard, Northeastern and Lowell Universities and the Hartford Graduate Center. He has a B. A. In Political Science from Widener University, a Master's Degree in International Relations from Boston University, and has done postgraduate work in Organizational Behavior at Rutgers University. He is a graduate of the Columbia University Advanced Program In Human Resource Management and Organization Development and the Wharton Graduate Business School's Advanced Executive Development Program for executives.
