I've attended several workshop presentations that Michelle has given (most recently at TechKnowledge '08 in San Antonio) and she really goes out of her way to make sure that people get the maximum out of the time. She's very knowledgeable about using social media in learning, and has a great sense of humor in her presentations. She also makes sure to interpret all the acronyms and special words so that everyone can understand what's happening. I hope I have the chance to hire her to write something for me -- a picture caption, a paragraph, a footnote -- anything at all. March 4, 2008 - Dick Carlson

Michelle graduated from Wright State University with a degree in English and an emphasis in Technical Writing and Speech/Theatre. She entered the industry as a technical editor for aerospace documentation. She honed her editing skills and moved into more diverse areas of industry, consulting within training and documentation for consumer products, pharmaceuticals, software, SAP, science, and manufacturing.

Michelle has also spent a fair amount of time studying e-learning and Web 2.0. For several years, Michelle was Director of Training at Trivantis (Lectora). Her experience led to presenting at several conferences, including Elliot Masie's Learning 2007 (Blog Yes!: Using Your Blog for Internal Marketing) and several sessions at the eLearning Guild's DevLearn 2008 (140 Characters or Less: Microblogging for Learning), as well as countless local presentations. In April of 2003, Michelle was certified as a PMMI Certified Trainer through the Packaging Machinery Manufacturer's Institute, the standard in packaging documentation and training.

In October 2003, Michelle decided to leave her job as an instructional designer and trainer in a manufacturing firm to start Write Technology. Michelle also functions as a Core Committee member and Technology/PR chair for the Krystal Pepper Memorial Scholarship.

Michelle maintains four weblogs, including an award-winning blog on wine as well as her industry-related blog, and is over-connected in social media. Michelle is also a contributing writer for Brian Solis's social economy blog.

Write Technology currently offers customized courses on The Art of Blogging in Business, Introduction to Microblogging in Business, and Introduction to Web 2.0.
