Why Dr. Kathryn Alexander? Dr. Kathryn Alexander’s unique combination of educational background and work experience make her the ideal person to advocate and facilitate meaningful conversations on diversity.
Educational Background: The foundation for Dr. Alexander’s people-centric professional orientation comes from her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling and her Doctorate in Communications, both from New York University.
Counseling Services: During the early stages of her career, Dr. Alexander provided counseling services in the community, at a major corporation and in academia.
She started at Opportunities Industrialization Center in Brooklyn, New York, as an employment counselor. Then, at NBC, she worked in the human resources department, when Affirmative Action was in its infancy.
While at the City University of New York’s Brooklyn College campus, she was especially proficient working with college students as an academic advisor and career counselor.
Marketing Research and Consulting Services: In 1980, Dr. Alexander formed, Kathryn Alexander Enterprises, Inc. www.kaeincorporated.com, providing interactive, insight-development marketing research and consulting services to major public and private-sector organizations.
She is recognized for her superior facilitation and interviewing skills, and continues to facilitate discussions on a myriad of different topics and in a multitude of business areas.
Focus Evolves to Include Employee Relations: More recently, Dr. Alexander expanded the services of her company to include employee-relations and diversity issues www.peoplenotnumbers.com.
In this capacity, she works to identify and resolve the intangible problems organizations face when employees are poorly motivated, become disgruntled, and detract from the bottom-line.
Diversity Counseling: Services now include Conversations On Diversity, an amalgam of Dr. Alexander’s educational background and professional experiences and a 21st-century approach to diversity counseling.
The unique and effective interactive Conversations On Diversity™ (www.conversationsondiversity.com) model evolved from a series of presentations at the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business. Dr. Alexander continues to guest lecture undergraduate and graduate students on diversity at the university.
