This Summer Carlin Val set out to do something most people wouldn’t dream about doing. He wanted to conquer North America, twice. In June (2012) he flew to Alaska and climbed to the top of North America (aka Mount McKinley) and within 36 hours of coming off the mountain he biked 7000km across North America (coast to coast). When asked what prompted this adventure Carlin responded, “both adventures were on my life bucket list and I thought why wait!” Carlin used this trip as an opportunity to create awareness/raise money ($10 000) for the Canadian Mental Health association.
Carlin has always had a passion for the outdoors. After high school, he decided to pursue that passion and study Outdoor Recreation Parks and Tourism at Lakehead University. During that time he specialized in Leadership, which allowed him to enjoy series of expeditions to earn credits (Dog Sledding, Rock Climbing, Sea Kayaking, Hiking, etc.). After his Undergrad he then earned a Bachelor of Education studying under Dr. Tom Puk in his unique Outdoor Experiential Environmental Education program. Since then Carlin has climbed all over North America, racking up exciting stories that can relate to a number of real life situations.
