OBJECTIVES This course is designed for critical care specialists, pulmonologists, general surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists and family practice physicians. The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge and after completion of this seminar the participant should be able to:  Discuss recent recommendations for antibiotic use in the ICU, with HAP and sepsis.  Describe both the pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management of septic shock.  Review the role of blood transfusion in Hospital Acquired Infections.
