Is continuing education required in medical physics?
At this time most medical physics organizations, certifying boards, and regulatory
agencies do not have formal requirements for continuing education. One exception
is that in USA medical physicists are required to obtain at least 15 hours of
continuing education from an accredited program in the field of mammography
physics in order to remain qualified. There is the possibility that in the future some
of the medical physics organizations will require CE credits in order to maintain
membership. However, the motivation for continuing education should come from
the individual medical physicists who have a desire to improve their professional
capabilities.
